Video Mixing Renderer: Introduced in Windows XP, VMR-7 was a filter that used DirectDraw 7 (a component of Microsoft’s DirectShow multimedia framework) to render video. VMR-9 became available with the release of DirectX 9. Windows Vista now uses Enhanced Video Renderer (EVR), but is till backwards compatible with VMR.
