In this scenario, the TV screen may appear as solid green, or it may appear as blocky pixels. This behavior continues until the next key frame is displayed.

  • You pause the live TV program or the DVD.
  • You use the Start menu, a sleep button on the keyboard, or a Windows Media Center remote control to put the computer to sleep.
  • You wake the computer, and then you try to continue watching the live TV program or the DVD.

In this scenario, you can view the video part of the live TV program or of the DVD. However, you cannot hear the accompanying audio.

Consider the following scenario. You have a computer that is running Windows Vista Ultimate or Windows Vista Home Premium. The computer receives digital cable by using a CableCARD. However, when you watch Live TV or Recorded TV in Windows Media Center, you may experience macroblocking or blocking artifacts. For example, square sections of the picture are not displayed correctly. These sections may appear to be missing, or they may appear as a single block of color. Additionally, the picture may appear distorted or pixilated. If you rewind the video, the distortion appears again at the same location in the video.

This problem is most likely to occur when one of the following conditions is true:

  • You watch or record TV from a high definition (HD) channel.
  • The motion of images on the screen is very fast.
  • Scenes changes occur quickly.

When you start a Windows Vista-based computer that has more than one TV tuner, you receive the following error message:

Windows Media Center Receiver Service stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.

Also, the Windows Media Center Receiver service (Ehrecvr.exe) may stop unexpectedly.
