You install the October 2008 Cumulative Update for Windows Media Center for Windows Vista (955519) on a Media Center system that has digital cable card tuners installed. When you perform back-to-back recordings, the first recorded TV show plays back correctly. However, the second recorded TV show plays back only audio.

Consider the following scenario:
- You have a Windows Vista-based Media Center computer that uses a Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial/Antenna (DVB-T) TV tuner.
- Media Center Live TV was configured not to use an Electronic Program Guide (EPG).
- You install a Phase Alternation Line (PAL) TV tuner.
- You use the Set Up TV Signal wizard to configure Media Center to use the PAL TV tuner instead of the DVB-T TV tuner.
- You do not download an EPG. This may be because of your location or because you decide not to download an EPG.
In this scenario, after you complete the Scan for Services part of the Set Up TV Signal wizard, you receive a message that resembles the following:
Scanning 100% done (0 service(s) found)

When you start a Windows Vista-based computer that has more than one TV tuner, you receive the following error message:
Windows Media Center Receiver Service stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.
Also, the Windows Media Center Receiver service (Ehrecvr.exe) may stop unexpectedly.

When you configure Windows Media Center to use a digital TV tuner in Windows Vista, you may lose the Electronic Program Guide (EPG) channel listings for some channels. You may also lose the EPG channel listings for the sub-channels of these channels. Additionally, the recordings that you schedule cannot run.

In Windows Vista, you cannot use Windows Media Center together with ATI All-In-Wonder video cards.
Note: The ATI All-In-Wonder video cards work fine as TV tuners and as graphics cards when you do not use Windows Media Center.

The information in this article applies to the following configuration(s):
- Catalyst Vista RTM driver
- All-In-Wonder X1800 series
- Windows Vista 32bit Edition
- Windows Vista 64bit Edition
Symptoms:
On some configurations, the TV tuner may not be detected when attempting to configure the TV signal in Windows Vista.
After installation of the driver, try to configure the TV signal and Windows might show that the TV tuner is not detected.
