When two users are logged on at the same time to a Tablet PC that is running Windows Vista, touch input may stop working. This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:

  • One user has a standard user account.
  • The other user has an administrator user account.
  • Both users use the Fast User Switching feature to switch users without logging off.

When the second user uses the Fast User Switching feature, the Welcome screen appears, and touch input stops working.

After you try to start an application that requires administrative credentials in Windows Vista, a User Account Control dialog box appears and asks you for permission to continue. If you click Continue to switch from a user account context to Admin Approval Mode, a second User Account Control dialog box prompts you to provide the password for an administrator account. However, the desktop and the Tablet PC Input Panel are unavailable when the Tablet PC Input Panel is running in Admin Approval Mode. Therefore, you cannot use the Tablet PC Input Panel to type your credentials in the dialog box.
