A Print Driver Stress Test is included in the Windows Logo Kit (WLK) for XPSDrv Printer drivers. You run this Print Driver Stress Test on a computer that is running Windows Vista SP2 or Windows Server 2008 SP2. During this test, Microsoft XPS Document Writer (MXDW) copies a rectangle with a height of one pixel (px) from the JPEG image on this computer. However, MXDW crashes.

When you insert a new blank BD-R media (Blue Ray -R) media into a Blue Ray writer on a Windows Vista SP2 computer and attempt to “Open” it in Windows Explorer, the unformatted media will need to be formatted in order to become useable by Windows Vista SP2. The formatting option “Live File System” is selected by default but is not supported in Windows Vista and you get a screen prompt saying “The file system is incompatible with this disk.”

You have a computer that is running Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Windows Server 2008 SP2. You install a third-party Windows Filtering Platform (WFP) callout driver. In this situation, you may receive a Stop error message on a blue screen. The Stop error message resembles the following:

STOP: 0×0000000A (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4) IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Notes:

• The four parameters in the Stop error message may vary, depending on the configuration of the computer.
• Not all “Stop 0×0000000A” error messages are caused by this problem.
• WFP callout drivers are usually used in third-party antivirus and firewall programs.

An application or service that uses a file system filter driver may experience function failure on a computer that is running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2), or Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2).

For example, an application performs a real-time data replication among volumes by using a file system filter driver. However, the application does not detect the data changes on some volumes. Therefore, the data cannot be replicated to other volumes.

Consider the following scenario:

• Lots of IP addresses are assigned to one network adapter on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2).
• Only the primary IP address is used for outgoing traffic.

In this scenario, only the primary IP address should be registered on the DNS servers for outgoing communication purpose. However, all IP addresses are registered on the DNS servers.

The issue causes the following symptoms:

• The communication to the computer is blocked by a firewall. Because all IP addresses are registered on the DNS servers, all these IP addresses seem to be valid IP addresses that can be used to communicate with the computer. However, if only the primary IP address can pass through a firewall, communication that uses all other IP addresses is block by the firewall.
• A large amount of DNS registration traffic and a large amount of update traffic is generated. However, this traffic is unnecessary because these IP addresses are not used for outgoing traffic.

Consider the following scenario:

• You have a computer that is running Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1), or Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2).
• You use the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (MBSA) tool to check for weak passwords or to assess password security.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message together with the error code 1721:

Some user accounts have blank or simple passwords, or could not be analyzed.

You install a Windows Vista service pack on your computer. After the service pack is installed, the computer may freeze, or it may restart. If the computer restarts, you see an error message that resembles the following on a black screen:

!! 0xc0000034 !! 142/53007 (_0000000000000000.cdf-ms)

Note: If you restart the computer, you experience the same error message.

When you try to install a Windows Vista Service Pack, the computer stops responding. You see a black screen, and you receive an error message that resembles the following:

!! 0xc0190036 !! 4159/75360 (myfile.xxx)

If you restart the computer, you receive the same error message.

When you try to install Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows Server 2008 or for Windows Vista, you receive the following error message:

One or more drivers may be incompatible. The driver listed below might be incompatible with Vista Service Pack 2. Check to see if a solution is available, and then restart the installation after the problem is resolved. MSDSM – Please read Microsoft Knowledge Base article 967752

If you click Ignore and Continue, you receive the following error message:

Installing Windows Vista Service Pack 2 might cause some drivers to stop working correctly. Are you sure you want to continue?

You receive the error message if you try to install Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows Server 2008 or for Windows Vista after you install the August 2009 Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 Application Compatibility Update (KB972036).

When you try to install Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows Server 2008 or for Windows Vista, you receive the following error message:

Invalid Parameter
Error: ERROR_INVALID_PARAMETER(0×80070057)

You receive the error message if you try to install Service Pack 2 (SP2) for Windows Server 2008 or for Windows Vista after you install the August 2009 Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 Application Compatibility Update (KB972036).
