Consider the following scenario in the Active Directory domain environment:
- You configure a Group Policy object for “Windows Firewall with Advanced Security.”
- You customize the “Rule merging” settings of the firewall properties to “No” in the Group Policy.
- You configure the “Connect to a Network Projector” rule group and set the rules to “Enabled” and “Allow.”
- In the clients local firewall configuration, the “Connect to a Network Projector” rule group is set to “Enabled” and “Allow.”
In this scenario, when you try to start a network projector on a Windows Vista-based client computer, you may receive the following message:
Do you want to allow the network projector to communicate with your computer through Windows Firewall?
When you click Yes to allow the computer to communicate with the network projector over the network, you receive the following error message:
Unable to change Windows Firewall settings.

Consider the following scenario:
- On a Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1)-based computer, you run the “Connect to a Network Projector” utility (Netproj.exe) to search for projectors on the network.
- There are many projectors on the network.
In this scenario, some network projectors may not be found during the search.
Note: This problem occurs even if the projectors and the computer reside on the same network.

Consider the following scenario:
- On a Windows Vista-based computer, you join a meeting by using Windows Meeting Space.
- In Windows Meeting Space, you click Options in the upper-right corner, and then you click Connect to a projector.
In this scenario, you cannot connect to the projector. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
The Network Projector could not be added to the meeting.
The projector does not support the display resolution you are currently using. In order to add the projector to the session stop the shared session, decrease your desktop resolution and then try again.
However, when you connect to the same projector by clicking Connect to a Network Projector, the connection succeeds.
Notes
- This problem occurs if the screen resolution of the computer is higher than the screen resolution that the network projector supports.
- This problem occurs even after you have installed hotfix 938906.

Consider the following scenario:
- You connect a Windows Vista-based computer to a network projector.
- You use Windows Photo Gallery to display an image in full-screen mode (slideshow mode).
In this scenario, the image is successfully displayed in full-screen mode on the computer. However, the image is not displayed on the network projector. Instead, you receive the following message on the network projector:
Loading…
This issue occurs if the Windows Experience Index rates the computer’s Graphics and Gaming functionality with a score of 3.0 or more.

On a Windows Vista-based computer, when you run the NetProj.exe utility to connect to a network projector, you receive the following error message:
The network projector is unable to display your desktop at the current screen resolution. Please lower the screen resolution and try to connect again.
The computer cannot successfully connect to the network projector.
