On a computer that is running Windows Vista, you apply updates to a Multilingual User Interface (MUI) Language Pack, to MUI files, and to MUI cache in the memory. However, when you restart the computer, the updates that you applied to the MUI Language Pack are lost.
For example, after you apply the update in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 930585 to the MUI Language Pack on a computer that is running the Romanian-language version of Windows Vista, the problem that is described in KB article 930585 is resolved by the update. However, after you restart the computer, this problem occurs again.
Note: After you restart the computer, the MUI files that are stored on the disk remain updated.

When you use a symbolic link or a hard link to run a program in Windows Vista, the program does not run. Instead, the program exits without generating an error message. You experience this problem if the following conditions are true:
- The program that you run by using the symbolic link or by using the hard link must load resources.
- The Multilingual User Interface Pack (MUI) file that is associated with the target program is not located under the symbolic link or under the hard link.
