You may experience random connectivity issues when you connect a Windows Vista-based mobile PC to certain Wi-Fi hotspots, access points, or routers.

These connectivity issues include the following:

• The wireless network connection is dropped.
• You experience poor performance.

You experience this issue if the Windows Vista-based computer is connecting to a wireless access point or router that is not fully vista compatible.

On a mobile PC that is running Windows Vista, the pen pointer does not track the pen stylus. This issue occurs in a multiple-monitor configuration when the external display is set to be the primary display.

I found this video at the Ultra Mobile Life site. Though they say the features were introduced in Windows XP, they show mobile features from Vista, and give a good overview of the many features that can make using a mobile PC much easier.

Consider the following scenario. You are running Windows Vista on a mobile PC. You open Windows Mobility Center, and then you perform an action in another program. However, the Windows Mobility Center program window unexpectedly maintains focus. Keyboard actions that you perform may apply to Windows Mobility Center instead of to the other program.

The following is an example of a scenario in which you experience these symptoms:

1. You press the “Windows logo key”+X to open Windows Mobility Center.
2. You click Start Start button to open the Start menu, and then you click Start Start button again to close it.
3. You press the “Windows logo key”+R to open the Run dialog box.
4. You type a command in the Open box, and then you press ENTER.

In this scenario, the command is not run. Instead, a tile in Windows Mobility Center opens.

You are running Windows Vista on a mobile PC. When you open the Windows Mobility Center item in Control Panel, you notice that the Wireless Network tile is not displayed.

Consider the following scenario. You establish a Remote Desktop connection to a mobile PC that is running Windows Vista. In the Remote Desktop session, you open Windows Mobility Center on the mobile PC. However, you find that you cannot interact with certain tiles in Windows Mobility Center. For example, you cannot use the Wireless Network tile to turn off the wireless connection. Or, you cannot use the Screen Orientation tile on a Tablet PC.

On a mobile PC that is running Windows Vista, you use the Presentation Settings tile of Windows Mobility Center to turn on presentation settings. Then, you configure a custom desktop background image. However, when you start a network presentation, the custom desktop background image does not appear. Instead, the desktop background is reset to the None setting.

You may experience random connectivity issues when you connect a Windows Vista-based mobile PC to certain Wi-Fi “hot spots.” These connectivity issues include the following:

• The wireless network connection is dropped.
• You experience poor performance.

You experience these issues if the Windows Vista-based computer is running on battery power.

Note: You may also experience these issues when you connect a Windows Vista-based mobile PC to a wireless access point (AP) in a small office/home office (SOHO) environment or in an enterprise environment.
