Assume that you have a document that contains custom properties. In Windows XP or in any pre-Windows XP operating system, the Content Indexer service can index these custom properties. On a Windows Vista-based Tablet PC that has Microsoft Office Outlook installed, the Windows Search Indexer crashes. When this issue occurs, you receive the following error message:

Microsoft Windows Search Indexer stopped working and was closed. A problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available.

When the Windows Search Indexer crashes, you cannot search in Outlook. In this situation, you must restart both the Windows Search Indexer and Outlook.
