You remove access to Windows Media Player by clicking Set program access and computer defaults. In this case, the Windows Media Player icon is removed from the All Programs list. However, when you manually start and configure Windows Media Player, the Windows Media Player icon is added to the “All Programs” list by itself.
Note You can manually start Windows Media Player by double-clicking the Wmplayer.exe application, or by clicking on a file for which Windows Media Player is the only registered application, such as a .wma file.

Consider the following scenario:
- On a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, you have some offline files.
- The Desktop folder is redirected to a network folder by a Group Policy setting.
In this scenario, the offline file icons on the desktop randomly change to different icons every time that you refresh the desktop. For example, you expect the offline files to be represented by green synchronization icons. However, these icons may change to other icons, such as to a magnifying glass icon, to a two-person icon, or to a shortcut arrow.
This issue typically occurs when there are many offline files on the desktop.

Consider the following scenario:
- You use Microsoft Windows Installer 4.0 on a Windows Vista-based computer.
- You author the msidbControlAttributesElevationShield control attribute in the Control table to request the User Account Control (UAC) shield icon to appear on the Windows Installer native UI PushButton control.
In this scenario, the UAC shield icon does not appear on the Windows Installer native UI PushButton control during maintenance mode. This problem can cause user disorientation because the UAC shield icon is not present to warn the user that the UAC credential dialog box is about to appear.
