When selecting a remote share in Windows Explorer the user interface may appear to hang for a short period and you may see the blue circle spinning during this time. This period could be up to ten minutes, after which the Explorer window will work as expected.

This issue will repeat if you reselect that folder in Windows Explorer.

This issue can occur when all of the following circumstances are true:

• The remote share is a Distributed File System (DFS) root.
• The DFS root target share is set to Files or programs from the share will not be available offline setting.
• The Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 client has the share path UNC for that DFS root in its client-side cache.
• There are multiple DFS root targets.

This hang or delay may be longer if the DFS root targets are distributed to network locations and sites remote from the client.

During the upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7, the upgrade hangs at 62% indefinitely.

Note: this issue is only for hangs at the 62%.

On a computer that is running Windows Vista Tablet PC, when you try to add input to an ink-enabled application by using the tablet pen, you notice that the application crashes. When this problem occurs, you must end the application process in Task Manager.

This problem usually occurs on computers that have a dual core processor or a multiprocessor.

When mounting an NTFS Volume, the system may hang.

Consider the following scenario:

• You have a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista Service Pack 1.
• The computer has a Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) Express interface.
• You have at least one PCI Express card that does not fully support Active State Power Management (ASPM) inserted.
• You restart the computer.

In this scenario, an internal error may occur during restart. For example, a CPU IERR error may occur. Additionally, the system may stop responding.

This problem occurs approximately one time in every 500 restarts. Therefore, you usually experience this issue only when you are running restart tests. However, the risk of this problem occurring increases significantly if the following conditions are true:

• You apply hotfix 952681 on the computer.
• You insert PCI Express cards that do not fully support ASPM into all available PCI Express slots.

On a Windows Server 2003 or Windows Vista based computer, when you try to upgrade HP printer drivers, it hangs at the finish window. If you try to restart the spooler, the following error message occurs:

Unable to install printer driver, Operation could not be completed.

After you install or uninstall an update package for a USB Human Interface Device (HID) component on a Windows Vista-based computer, the computer may stop responding. Additionally, you may receive the following message when the computer restarts:

Windows is configuring the updates

Note: This problem occurs only on a specific kind of Windows Vista-based computer.

A modal dialog box is open when you try to redraw a Windows Internet Explorer 7 window by using a script call in the main window. In this case, Windows Internet Explorer 7 stops responding (hangs).

In a Microsoft Windows Workflow Foundation project, the Unload method may stop responding (hang). This problem may occur when a Replicator activity is inside a TransactionScope activity.

You encoutner the following symptoms on the Windows Server 2003 computer or Windows Vista computer:

• When you try to install printer, the add Printer Wizard Hangs.
• The system hangs.
• The printer spooler hangs.
