When assigning your Autodesk product to computers in an ActiveDirectory organizational unit using Group Policies, the installation was not successful. In the Event Viewer on one of the client computers, you received the following error message:

Product: AutoCAD 2008 - English

Error 1606. Could not access network location Autodesk\AutoCAD 2008\R17.1\enu\.

  • You try to turn on tracing for individual preference extensions by enabling and configuring the administrative template settings in the following location:

In Windows Vista, the Windows Update agent may not follow the “Re-prompt for restart with scheduled installations” Group Policy setting. This issue occurs when you have configured Windows Update to automatically install hotfixes at a certain time, and you do not restart the computer.

After the hotfixes are installed, a defined delay occurs before the first prompt to restart the computer. However, a design change in the Windows Update agent now requires that the user to select the defined delay value from a drop-down list. For example, the user may select values of 10 minutes, 1 hour, or 4 hours. The default delay value is 10 minutes.

The delay value that the user selects determines how much time the Windows Update agent will delay until the next prompt to restart the computer.

In an Active Directory domain environment, you configure the “Prohibit ‘Make Available Offline’ for these files and folders” Group Policy setting to prevent domain users from making files or folders available offline. When this Group Policy setting is applied to a Windows Vista-based client computer, the Always available offline check box is still visible in the Properties dialog box of the network share.

However, when a user tries to make the network share available offline, the action fails. Additionally, the user receives the following error message:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the set associations control panel.

Note: The Group Policy setting successfully removes the Always available offline check box on a Windows XP-based client computer.

Consider the following scenario:

  • On a computer that has Internet Explorer 7 installed, you apply the Internet Explorer Maintenance Group Policy settings to add a pop-up blocker exception site.
  • In the Internet Options dialog box, you manually add a new pop-up blocker exception site.
  • You reapply the Group Policy settings on the computer.

In this scenario, you the new pop-up blocker exception site that you manually added in the Internet Options dialog box is missing from this dialog box.

Note: This problem does not occur on computers that have Internet Explorer 6 installed.
