You use multiple monitors on a Windows Vista-based computer, on a Windows Vista Service Pack 1-based computer, or on a Windows Server 2008-based computer. Then, you use calibration tools or other programs to manipulate custom gamma settings. In this case, custom gamma settings may be lost after the fade-in effect is executed.
Note: The fade-in effect is executed in the following scenarios:
- Lock and unlock the computer.
- Resume the computer from sleep.
- Resume the computer from hibernate.

Symptoms
On some configurations, the red gamma, brightness, and contrast settings are not retained after restarting the operating system.
Open Catalyst Control Center and go to the Color settings. For the Red color, change the gamma, brightness, and contrasting settings to its maximum value. Apply the settings, click OK, and exit Catalyst Control Center. Users might find that the color settings are not retained after restarting the operating system.
