When you start a Windows Vista-based computer, the fingerprint reader may not be available for use at the Welcome screen. Therefore, you cannot log on to the computer by using the fingerprint reader. This problem may occur only occasionally.

Brandon LeBlanc, over at the Windows Vista Team Blog, has released another video. This one demonstrates the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader, and how you can use it in Vista to replace your login name and password with your fingerprint. Pretty cool!

After you upgrade to Windows Vista, you cannot use a fingerprint reader or another biometric device to log on.
