Consider the following scenario:
- On a computer that runs Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, you enable Aero desktop theme effects.
- This enables the Desktop Window Manager (DWM) feature.
- After you do this, the content for some applications do not fully display the necessary images.
For example, when you visit a Web site by using Internet Explorer 8 Beta, the content in the Web site is not fully displayed. If you refresh the Web page when this problem occurs, this problem is resolved temporarily.
Note: This problem usually occurs on a computer that has a multi-core processor and a large monitor.

You develop an application that uses the UpdateLayeredWindowIndirect function to update a layered window. However, when you run the application in Windows Vista or in Windows Server 2008, the function does not correctly display the layered window.
This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:
- In the UPDATELAYEREDWINDOWINFO structure, you use both the pptSrc parameter and the prcDirty parameter.
- The pptSrc parameter does not use the default value (0, 0).
- The Desktop Window Manager (DWM) feature is enabled.
Additionally, when the issue occurs, you cannot manipulate the parameters to output the correct result.

I doubt it’s a very scientific study, but some stats suggest Vista only makes up 3% of web browsing. I’m sure if I look at my logs, my stats would suggest almost everyone is using Vista. Who’s right? Who cares.
