This article describes an update package that addresses common application compatibility issues in Windows Vista or in Windows Server 2008. Specifically, this update package provides Dynamic Update functionality during the installation of Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) or Windows Server 2008 SP2. The following issues are addressed by this article:
- Adds a hard block for Eusing Free Registry Cleaner to prevent users from deleting the registry value of the Software Licensing Service (Slsvc.exe) image path.
- Adds a soft block when users try to upgrade Windows Server 2003 together with the Active Directory Management Gateway Service to Windows Server 2008.
- Adds help messages for Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 when Microsoft Forefront Client Security (FCS) is installed.
- Adds a hard block for the prerelease version of Hyper-V to prevent users from upgrading Windows Server 2008 together with the prerelease version of Hyper-V to Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 (SP2).
- Adds a block for Microsoft Zune to prevent users from trying to upgrade Windows XP to Windows Vista for Zune 4.0.
Note: If the computer is connected to the Internet when you upgrade the operating system, Dynamic Update prompts you to download critical content. You have the option to skip Dynamic Update during setup.

Windows Vista Application Compatibility Update is a software update that addresses common application compatibility issues in Windows Vista. Microsoft regularly releases application compatibility updates for Windows Vista and for Windows Server 2008.
To immediately install the August 2009 update, click Start, point to All Programs, and then click Windows Update. In the navigation pane, click Check for updates, and then follow the steps to install all recommended updates.

HomeSite 5.5 was released more than three years before Windows Vista became publicly available and does not officially support this new operating system. However, we are not currently aware of any major issues that would adversely affect customer use of HomeSite on Windows Vista. While HomeSite 5.5 should work well for most users using the default Vista settings, some users have reported that they need to run HomeSite in Windows XP Compatibility mode and as an administrator.

You may encounter the following errors when attempting to install Flashpaperon Windows Vista:
- “Error 1904.Module C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash8.ocx failed to register. HRESULT -2147220473. Contact your support personnel.” and then a message that the software installation was successfully completed.
- When trying to print to the FlashPaper printer driver, “Could not find FlashPaper Printer. Please reinstall FlashPaper Printer.”
- “MMxpt has stopped working error” when attempting to print.
After you install FlashPaper on an Intel-based Mac running Mac OS X v.10.4.x, it fails to initiate the printer driver, and you get the error: “This panel is not compatible with your computer.”
