Windows Aero can cause performance issues when using the Brush tool in Fireworks on Windows Vista.

Consider the following scenario:

• On a computer that runs Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, you enable Aero desktop theme effects.
• This enables the Desktop Window Manager (DWM) feature.
• After you do this, the content for some applications do not fully display the necessary images.

For example, when you visit a Web site by using Internet Explorer 8 Beta, the content in the Web site is not fully displayed. If you refresh the Web page when this problem occurs, this problem is resolved temporarily.

Note: This problem usually occurs on a computer that has a multi-core processor and a large monitor.

On a Windows Vista-based computer, assume that you have a graphics card installed that uses system memory to augment dedicated video memory. In this situation, the Windows Aero feature may be disabled when the operating system runs under certain conditions, such as in multi-monitor configurations.

If the Windows Appearance setting in Vista is set to “Windows Aero” for the color scheme, then you might experience performance issues when you use the Fireworks Brush tool.
