RSoP shows a red X on the icons for registry settings in 64-bit Windows Vista or in 64-bit Windows Server 2008

Consider the following scenario:

  • You configure a registry-related Group Policy setting in a domain or in an organization unit (OU).
  • You apply this setting to a computer that is running a 64-bit version of Windows Vista or of Windows Server 2008.
  • You use the rsop.msc command to view the registry setting result.

In this scenario, the icon for the Group Policy setting is displayed as a red X.

Note: This issue affects only the user interface (UI). When this issue occurs, the Group Policy setting is applied successfully.
