You cannot read or copy a file that contains an asterisk character in the stream name in Windows Vista, in Windows Server 2008, in Windows 7 or in Windows Server 2008 R2

You cannot read or copy a file that has a stream name that includes an asterisk character (*) on a computer that is running one of the following operating systems:

  • Windows Vista
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Server 2008 R2

Note: The Windows implementation of the universal disc file system (UDFS) considers the asterisk character (*) as a wildcard character. However, the common practice in UDFS is to name a stream by using an asterisk character (*).
