A user who belongs to the Network Configuration Operators group cannot enable or disable a network adapter on a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.
  • You use a user account that belongs to the Network Configuration Operators group to log on to this computer.
  • You try to enable or to disable a network adapter.

In this scenario, you receive the following error message:

You do not have sufficient privileges for Configuring Connection Properties. Contact your Administrator.

Therefore, you cannot enable or disable the network adapter as expected.

Note: Although you cannot enable or disable the network adapter, you can change the settings for the network adapter.
