A custom application that uses a bitmap data structure may crash in Windows Vista or in Windows Server 2008
Consider the following scenario:
- You create a custom application that uses a bitmap data structure.
- You specify a very small buffer for the bitmap.
- The buffer does not align the bitmap.
- You run this application on a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.
In this scenario, the application may crash.
If this application runs in kernel mode, you may receive a Stop error on a blue screen. For example, assume the application is a driver that runs in kernel mode. In this scenario, you may receive a Stop error on a blue screen.
