Redirected Favorite Links do not work correctly on a Windows Vista-based or on a Windows Server 2008-based computer
You use a new domain user account to log on to a Windows Vista-based computer or on to a Windows Server 2008-based computer. Then, the Favorite Links list (%Userprofile%\Links) is unexpectedly empty. Additionally, a copy of the folder is created instead of a shortcut, when you drag a folder into the Favorite Links list.
This issue occurs when the following conditions are true:
- On a Windows Server 2008-based computer, the Windows Vista theme is enabled.
- The default user profile is customized by using the Copy To option before you create the new user account.
Note: The Copy To option is located under Advanced system information.
- The Links folder is redirected to a Network share.
- The Move the contents of Links to the new location option is disabled in the folder redirection Group Policy settings for the Links folder.
