Downloaded files do not inherit the permissions from the parent folder when you use the Ftp.exe program to download files in Windows Vista or in Windows Server 2008

On a Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008-based computer, you use the Ftp.exe program to download files to a local computer. Permission inheritance is enabled on the destination folder. However, the permissions of the downloaded files may differ from the permissions of the parent folder.

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:

  • The temporary (%Temp%) folder of the current user and the destination folder reside on the same partition.
  • The temporary folder and the destination folder have different permissions.
