Certificates are unusable when you import a PFX file to a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008
Consider the following scenario:
- You have a Personal Information Exchange (.pfx) file that contains certificates and private key information.
- The private key information contains the cryptographic service provider (CSP) name.
- The CSP name in the .pfx file does not match the case of the registered CSP name.
In this scenario, after you import the .pfx file to a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, the operating system cannot use the certificate correctly. When an application tries to use a certificate that is included in the .pfx file, error code 0×80090014 is returned to the application.
