The shutdown process does not finish and you receive an error message on a computer that runs Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008: “Stop 0×0000009F”
Consider the following scenario:
- You have a computer that runs Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.
- You put the computer to sleep or into hibernation while a universal serial bus (USB) device is connected to the computer and a client application or driver is communicating with the USB device.
- You resume the computer and then try to shut down the computer.
In this scenario, the system seems to be shutting down but the shutdown process is never completed. The power LED does not go out even though the signal to the screen is already turned off and there is no or very little disk activity going on. Eventually, you receive the following Stop error message:
Stop 0×0000009F (00000003, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
Note: The parameters in this Stop error message may vary, depending on the actual configuration.
