You cannot enter the FQDN of all printer servers into the “Point and Print Restrictions” policy in Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista
Consider the following scenario:
- There are many print servers in your domain.
- You configure the following policy in Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista to control the servers that a client computer can connect to for point and print operations:
User configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Printers\Point and Print Restrictions
- You enable this policy and enable the “users can only point and print to these servers” option.
- In the “Enter fully qualified server names separated by semicolons” box, you try to enter the fully qualified domain name(FQDN) of all printer servers.
In this scenario, the “Enter fully qualified server names separated by semicolons” box does not accept all FQDNs. Therefore, you cannot manage printer servers in your domain correctly.
