Stop errors in Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008: “Stop: 0×00000018” or “STOP: 0x000000C2”

On a computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008, the operating system randomly crashes. Additionally, you receive one of the following Stop error messages:

Stop: 0×00000018 (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4) REFERENCE_BY_POINTER

STOP: 0x000000C2 (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4) BAD_POOL_CALLER
