An application may stop working unexpectedly on a Windows Vista SP1-based or a Windows Server 2008-based computer

You run an application that uses the RPCRT4.dll module on a computer that is running Windows Vista SP1 or Windows Server 2008. In this scenario, the application may stop working unexpectedly, and you receive the following error message:

Microsoft Windows
Application Name has stopped working
A problem caused by the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Additionally, errors that resemble the following are logged in the Application log in Windows Server 2008:

Log Name: Application
Source: Application Error
Description:
Faulting application application_name, version application_version, time stamp time_stamp, faulting module RPCRT4.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a751, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000b7782, process id 0x8c8, application start time start_time.
