Some unrecoverable hardware errors are not reported as expected on a computer that runs a 32-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that runs a 32-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.
  • You enable the Machine Check Architecture (MCA) feature on the computer.

In this scenario, you expect to receive an error report when the processor detects an unrecoverable hardware error. However, some unrecoverable hardware errors are not reported as expected. Therefore, these hardware errors may remain undetected and may cause unpredictable behavior.
