Probably due to the released of SP1, the 140 million licenses announced in April have increased to 180 million now. Averaging 10 million licenses a month isn’t bad!
See the original post at: Microsoft: 180 million Vista licenses now sold

Everyone will find “Vista sucks”, etc posts - all over. But those are dramatically dropped since SP1, and so on. Thanks to all legal issues, they are “beware”, but still high quolity. And ifu think/said: NO! Just use their services, and - explain your problem… within 1-48 hours, u have a PERSONAL reply… and NO, i do not work or sell MS products. Vista, Ubuntu and Mac OS X, everyone have their own “special features” and many people use Ubuntu and Vista together. only 1 people said that, because UAC she downgrade her OS. When i send details about TINY TweakUAC freeware, she installed Vista back…

Those “Vista Sux” people were just following hte crowd and media (who loves sexy apples). You could have always approximated how many people are REALLY using Vista…
OK here’s some rough calculations:
16.14% of internet users are Vista
http://marketshare.hitslink.com/report.aspx?qprid=11
1.4 billion internet users
http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm
Assuming the usage rate is consistent around the world…
1.4 billion * 16.14% = 226 million Vista internet users
The actually user base would be significantly less (i.e. 180 million) than the above number only if for some reason, Vista users surf the internet WAY MORE than all other OS’s to skew the percentage up to 16.14%. It’s probably more likely that that some Vista users don’t use the internet much because it’s for work mostly. Hence there is likely more than 226 million Vista users.
Hitslink logs statistics in the “rich” (and more regulated) nations. Here Vista adoption is probably held back a little by expense. So that could mean that Vista adoption in other “poorer” (Gov’t don’t give a crap) nations is much greater than 16.14% since you can like buy it at the local fruit shop for like $1, etc.
