A portable device that is connected to a Windows Vista-based computer does not start after you upgrade Windows Vista to Windows Vista SP1
When you connect a portable device to a Windows Vista based computer, and then you upgrade Windows Vista to Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1), you experience the following symptoms:
- A dialog box appears that indicates that the Windows Vista SP1 update has finished. Another dialog box appears that indicates that the device driver software must be installed. An option to install the software is presented.
- If you select the installation option, the drivers are installed incorrectly. In addition, you receive an error message that resembles to the following:
Device not started (code 10): Device has problem: 0×0a: CM_PROB_FAILED_START
- If you disconnect and then reconnect the device, this issue is not resolved. If you restart the system with the device disconnected, and then you reconnect the device when the computer restarts, this issue is also not resolved.
