You may receive error messages when you try to perform a backup operation on a Windows Vista-based computer

When you try to perform a backup operation on a Windows Vista-based computer, you may experience the following symptoms:

  • You may receive the following error message:

    Windows could not find backup devices on your computer. The following information might explain why this problem occurred:

    Incorrect function. (0×80070001)

    Please close the backup application and try again.

    This issue occurs when you click Complete PC Backup in the Backup and Restore Center dialog box and then you click Create a backup now.

  • You may receive the following error message:

    Your backup configuration is not valid. Review your backup settings. (0×81000029).

    This issue occurs when you click Back Up Files in the Backup and Restore Center dialog box and then you select the hard disk as the location to save the backup.
