Stop error message when you try to update or to install AVstream device drivers on a Windows Vista-based computer: “STOP: 0×00000050″

Consider the following scenario:

  • You are running a Windows Vista-based computer.
  • You try to update or to install video or audio AVstream device drivers.
  • The corresponding device is in suspend mode.

In this scenario, the computer crashes. Additionally, you receive the following Stop error message:

STOP: 0×00000050 (0xFFFFFF94, 0×00000000, 0×8D2E3798, 0×00000000)
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
ks.sys Address 8D2E3798 base at 8D2C5000, DateStamp 4549b186

For example, when you upgrade Windows Vista to Windows Vista Service Pack 1, the video and audio AVstream device drivers are updated. Therefore, in this situation, you may experience this issue.
