A hotfix is available to update the “(GMT-3:00) Brasilia” time zone and the “(GMT-4:00) Manaus” time zone for 2007 through 2008 in Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista

The government of Brazil has announced a new time zone start date and end date for Brazil for the period of 2007 through 2008. The new time zone information is as follows:

  • Daylight saving time starts October 14, 2007 (Second Sunday in October)
  • Daylight saving time ends February 16, 2008 (Third Sunday in February)

Windows-based computers will not correctly interpret the time that is related to the transition to daylight saving time. The hotfix that is mentioned in this article addresses this time zone change. This hotfix updates the (GMT-3:00) Brasilia time zone and the (GMT-4:00) Manaus time zone to use the new time zone information for 2007 through 2008.

There is a download that resolves this issue. See Hotfixes for details. This issue is resolved in SP1.
