Microsoft delivered as promised: three Important updates for Vista. Along with those, I got another three, so it took me a second to figure out what was there.
Accompanying those three Important updates was also the typical ‘Malicious Software Removal Tool’ (also an Important update), and the ‘Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter’ (a Recommended update). The sixth update that I received, also a Recommended update, was KB936825, an update to resolve issues with Secure Digital (SD). If you have a laptop, it’s likely you’ll get this one as well.
Six updates total, a busy Tuesday for Vista so far. Now we wait another month to see how Vista holds up, but so far, there are noticeably less updates for Vista than for Windows XP, so at least some of the time and effort put into Vista is paying off…
P.S. The Windows Vista Team Blog just posted a tidbit about the SD update:
On Tuesday 22 May we’ll be publishing via Windows Update the final version of a compatibility update for Windows Vista to support new 8GB and larger Secure Digital (SD) cards. Customers using this type of card for ReadyBoost or other purposes can receive this update via the usual automatic Windows Update method. It will allow for full functionality of these newer SD cards on Windows Vista, and also improves support for SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) and SDIO (Secure Digital Input-Output) cards.

Odd, but the update told me that it wasn’t for my OS. I’m running Vista-64 Ultimate…
