ShopFlashing green or red dots on a dark background when using Apple 30″ Cinema display

Symptoms:
When using an Apple 30″ Cinema Display at its native resolution or resolution higher than 1280×800, users may notice flashing or scrolling red or green dots on the screen when viewing a dark background.
