MS07-027: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer
Description: Security issues have been identified that could allow an attacker to compromise a system running Internet Explorer and gain control over it. You can help protect your system by installing this update from Microsoft.
Update type: Important
Release date: May 8, 2007
Applies to: All versions
Knowledge base: support.microsoft.com/kb/931768
Download link: 32-bit | 64-bit
Comments: Though not specifically for the core of Vista, all Vista releases include IE7, so it is relevant. Details also available in security bulletin MS07-027. Maximum rating is ‘Critical’, though that is probably for XP, as it is only listed as ‘Important’ on my machine.

navcancl refers to an IE7 cross-site scripting vulnerability. I’m not sure if KB931768 fixes this or not (it was an IE7 update). See http://www.securityfocus.com/bid/22966/info for more details. Here’s a page that might help in cleaning up the damage:

Let us know how it goes.

Could either of you send a screenshot to jpfieber@gmail.com? Sounds like an issue that may make for a good post, and hopefully find others with the problem that have a way to resolve it.
