Here’s an easy one that the How-To Geek pointed out. If you like having your ‘Computer’ icon (formerly ‘My Computer’) on your desktop, it’s easy to do, just follow these steps.
- Click on your Start menu.

- Right-click on Computer.

- Choose Show on Desktop from the menu that pops up.

- Enjoy having your Computer icon on your desktop!

Ever since Windows95 I have always had the Control Panel on my Desktop. Unfortunately, back then you had to create a shortcut from a GUID, which you either had to type long hand or you could copy it from the Registry. In short, it was a pain. Geeky and cool, but a pain.
However, in Vista you can do it the same way as for the Computer icon. I like that! Not as geeky, but still cool.
