Windows Explorer and Windows Media Center do not display the thumbnail for MPEG2 format video files in Windows Vista

The following problems may occur in Windows Vista:

Microsoft Windows Explorer does not display the thumbnail for MPEG2 format video files when you open the video folder.
Microsoft Windows Media Center does not display the thumbnail for MPEG2 format video files when you open the video library.
When you right-click a MPEG2 format video in the Windows Media Center video library and then click Video Details, you receive an error message that resembles the following:

Unable to display video thumbnail

Windows Media Center is unable to display the thumbnail for this video.

Note: This problem does not affect how the MPEG2 file plays.

This is fixed with KB932818. Works great now.

KB932818 does not apply to Vista Business edition. However, the same problem exists there. Any ideas?

If you do a search on my site for ‘thumbnail’ you’ll see a few more KB-Links that might relate. Is it only MPEG2 thumbnails that you’re having problems with, or all thumbnails?
