Is your Roxio software being blocked in Vista due to compatibility issues?

RoxioIf you’re running any Roxio products, there’s a good chance you’re having problems. Due to a ‘clerical error’, products that are compatible with Vista are being seen as incompatible. Lucky for you, there is a fix.

When you start up Vista, you probably get this message:

Program Compatibility Assistant

This Driver is blocked due to compatibility issues

Check online to see if solutions are available from the Microsoft website. If solutions are found, Windows will automatically display a website that lists steps you can take.

Driver: Sonic Solutions DLA
Publisher: Sonic Solutions
Location: Not available

A driver is installed that causes stability problems with your system. This driver will be disabled. Please contact the driver manufacturer for an update that is compatible with this version of Windows.

The Roxio website talks about this problem, and has links to patches that will fix the problem. There is a separate patch for retail customers, and for Dell customers. The following products are affected:

  • Easy Media Creator 9
  • Easy Media Creator 9 Deluxe
  • Easy Media Creator 9 Trial Version
  • WinOnCD 9
  • WinOnCD 9 Trial Version (Not available publicly)
  • Easy CD & DVD Burning (”Vista Compatible” labeled boxes only)
  • RecordNow 9 Music Lab Premier

You are correct. It was pointed out to me recently (itsvista.com/2007/04/vista-sp1-to-be-or-not-to-be/#comments) and though I think I understand when to use each, I’ve got to get it ingrained in my head now. I’ve updated the post, I’ll have to see if there’s a plugin that can help prompt me or something until I get it re-learned.
