I‘ve written previously about the Vista SP1 debate. If there is still any lingering doubt about whether their will be a Service Pack 1 for Vista, here is more evidence that it is coming.
On Microsoft’s MSDN library, I noticed the following:
Clicking through to the linked page you find the requirements for this function being listed as “Vista SP1″:

Searching the library for the phrase “Windows Vista SP1” returned a number of other pages that discuss SP1 as well. A page talking about UAC notes that “There are no architectural changes for Windows Vista SP1. Applications that are compatible with Windows Vista RTM should continue to be compatible with Windows Vista SP1.” Another talks about added features for Active Directory Rights Management. Improvements to the Windows Recovery Environment are coming as well.
A post on April 23rd by a Microsoft ISV Architecture Advisor talks about Service Pack 1 for SQL Server 2005, and says “Windows Vista SP1 is not far behind, either.” Is it possible that my prediction of SP1 being released on November 29th is way off? Only time will tell. Have you seen evidence of SP1 and what will/won’t be included? If so, let us know in the comments section!
