Vista's Application Layer Gateway Service

ServicesInternet Connection Sharing (ICS) is a way for multiple computers to share one internet connection without using a router. The Application Layer Gateway service helps extend the functionality of ICS by allowing protocol plugins. If you’re not using ICS, you don’t need this service, though because the default startup is manual, it’s not using any resources if ICS isn’t in use, so there is nothing to gain by disabling it.
