I appreciate the satire...
I have found a more realistic fix, avoid windows media player and the other two evil proprietary media giants whenever possible. First thing I do during every windows install is put in realalternate and quicktime alternative, then try to change all file associations away from media player. An uninstall button for media player would be a nice gesture. The great difficulty comes when you have sites insisting on sending inline video content to media player, that somehow open media player no matter what file associations or browser plugin tweaks you make. And if you do manage to cast media player out of your browser (Opera I should hope, though firefox does OK), these sites tell you to upgrade your computer even though you have 10 or 15 media players all over your hard drive plenty capable of playing their silly content. Only thing worse than proprietary software is proprietary web developers. But none of those three evil giants can ever compare to the evil we call Flash, so I won't even go there. Perhaps the fix for media player tooltips popping over media player is pressuring your district attorneys to sue microsoft for an effective media player uninstall.
