SATA optical drives are not available after you start a Windows Vista-based computer

Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) optical drives, such as a CD or a DVD drive, may not be available after you start a Windows Vista-based computer.

There is a download that resolves this issue. See Hotfixes for details. This issue is resolved in SP1.
