You receive a Stop 0×9F error when you wake a Windows Vista-based computer that is connected to an IEEE 1394-based device

UpdatesDescription: Install this update to resolve an issue which may cause the system to crash while resuming from hibernation while an IEEE 1394 hard drive is connected.

Update type: Recommended

Release date: January 29, 2007

Applies to: All versions

Knowledge base: support.microsoft.com/kb/929762

Download link: 32-bit | 64-bit

Comments: You may see DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE or STOP 0×0000009F in your error message. Likely only a recommended update if you have a Firewire hard drive connected (I got the update on a computer that has a Firewire hard drive, didn’t get it on a laptop with Firewire, but with no drive connected).
